Summer in Charlotte

The kids and I are having a blast in Charlotte at my mom's and sister's house. 5 weeks isn't long enough!! We went to Myrtle Beach, SC for a week, joined their local pool, and have also gone to Carowinds a lot- (an amusement park on the border of the Carolinas). The kids love being with their 2 cousins Jake (9) and Maddie (7). They love swimming and the hot weather. Jacob and Maddie caught a turtle and named her Shelley. They play with her nonstop (poor turtle) and even set up a terrarrium in Maddie's room for her. They have become best buddies this summer! We are going to Atlanta tomorrow for the weekend and will go to a Braves game, the "World of Coke"museum, and Stone Mountain. My mom is staying here with Jayden, as she's a bit young for everything. Jonathan is way excited for the baseball game, as the Braves are his latest favorite team. The kids get to run the bases at Turner Field after the game. I love summer time!!!!!!!!!

Father's Day

Jon came to class to have a special lunch with Jake on the Wednesday before Father's Day. They ate Subway sandwiches and Jake made dad a colorful (and plenty tacky) tie. On Father's Day the weather was gorgeous and we took Jon to a minor league baseball game. After the game the kids got to go out onto the field to play catch with dad!

Beach Day at School!

OK- only in Washington do the kids need to wear coats on Beach Day in June! I am going to melt this summer in NC! It was supposed to be nice today- HA! I was the only teacher wearing shorts- and most likely blinded everyone with my pasty white legs!! We had a picnic out in the grass. The kids brought beach towels, sandals, sunglasses, etc... We also moved the tables around in the classroom to make room to spread out our towels and work. And then of course there was the Beach Boy music to top it off. Jake got a Lunchable (treat for him) so was very excited! Not sure too many of the kids ate. They were too interested in playing in the grass. Ah, to be seven again! They are precious!

Play Day at School (AKA "Field Day")

Considering all of the rainy weather we've had this spring, it sure was nice on Monday, June 16th for Play Day. I was in charge of organizing and leading it this year for the whole school, so had been anxious about the weather for weeks. It was sunny and warm, but not too hot. Perfect! The kids went from station to station with their class- 9 stations in all. Jake said his favorite was the obstacle course- but then quickly changed it to the popsicle/ rest station! The funniest part of the day was when my class had JUST come back inside the building for lunch (after 2 hours of solid play time) and one of my little girls asked me "When's recess?" UGH! The day was fun w/o any glitches, so I was relieved... and tired by the end of the day. Watching the kids have so much fun made it all worth it!

More Baseball

Baseball, baseball, and more baseball! I love watching, but am excited for the end of the season. Tons of the games (for both boys) have been rained out and rescheduled this spring. Jonathan has a tournament nearby this weekend and is excited for it!

A Visit to the Park

Jayden loves playgrounds! Her favorite is the swings, but today she had to settle for a slide. I lifted her up to the top about 20 times.

Crazy Hair Day!

We had Crazy Hair Day at our school at the end of May. Jake sprayed his hair green, and I wore a blue wig.
