Carving Pumpkins

Jake and Jayden have wanted to carve their pumpkins and eat the seeds since the day we got them in late September. I had to keep saying "not quite yet- they'll rot"- which was met with moans and groans. We ended up cooking the seeds, but the kids added so much salt, they couldn't stand to eat any! We then lit the pumpkins, put them on Jake's decorated fireplace, turned out all the lights and turned on Jake's spooky monster man. They were so excited- but snuggled close to me! Jonathan didn't want to carve a pumpkin this year.

Local Pumpkin Patch

Jake reeeeealy wanted to go to our local pumpkin patch to actually carve a pumpkin off the vine.  Yesterday was a gorgeous day outside, so we went there after school.  The pumpkin he picked was too big for him to lift- and cost about $11.  It's half green and super ugly, but he adores it!  I was able to talk Jayden into getting a little one.  We also got one for Jonathan, who (once again) did not care to join us.

Fall Leaves in the Yard

Just took these a few minutes ago in our yard.

Reptile Show

Jake went to a reptile show with Jon this weekend in Tacoma.  We are now the "proud" owners of a hot pink mouse (yes- it's fur is dyed) and 2 turtles.  I found a mouse dropping on his pillow this morning.  Evidently they were "cuddling" together in bed before I got up this morning.  Prayers are welcomed!!!

State Park- Fall

Jake, Jayden and I went to the state park to play in the leaves and on the beach.  Jake found a cool fort by the water and wanted to live there forever.  There weren't as many leaves as I thought there'd be, but it was still pretty.  Jonathan didn't want to come (boohoo).
