Jonathan's Baseball

Here are some more pix of Jonathan's baseball games. He has several each week, and we travel up to an hour away for most games. When the games start at 5:30 and last until around 8:00, it makes for loooong nights. But I must say, it is really fun to watch. The team has improved so much this season. They got to play in a tournament last weekend, which was fun for the boys. Jayden has made friends with othere siblings and always brings "Toodle" to the games. Jake has come to lots of games, but also has his own games to attend, so hasn't been to as many as Jayden. Jonathan still pitches and plays first base. His hitting has been in a slump pretty much all season long, so he gets frustrated with that, but overall he loves it. He gets to play all the time, which he loves- and of course makes it more fun for me to watch. I feel a little badly for the 3 kids who rotate being the bench warmers- because Jonathan has been there, done that- and it is sad to see as a parent. Jonathan has even said he wishes that his coach would sit him out every once in a while so that those other kids get more playing time. I guess those times on the bench, though frustrating, have taught him a certain amount of empathy. Only 3 or 4 more regular season games- and then All Stars.

Memorial Day at Iverson Beach

Jonathan's friend Luke spent the night on Sunday and then hung out with us the next day (Memorial Day). The weather was gorgeous, so we went to Subway to get some sandwiches and then headed to the beach. We brought our new orange blow-up boat (Jonathan found it at Big 5 and thought it would be so much fun). The tide was way out. Jonathan and Luke walked way out to the water and actually swam. Jake and Jayden loved the boat (though Jayden insisted that I pull her and noone else. She was a little uneasy when the boat would rock). There were eagles flying overhead the whole time- something I try not to take for granted living here! We stayed a couple of hours (got a little cloudy so we left), but we still had fun! Check out Jayden's new suit- she's SO much fun to shop for!!!

School Music Concert

Here's Jake at his "Sing Across the Decades" choir concert that he had last Thursday. Half the time he yawned and/ or looked like he was gonna barf! Note that he's dressed like a hippie- and that he was one of only six boys who attended the evening concert (you have to chooses music as a Wednesday elective to participate in the concert, and most boys choose PE over music or library).

Cub Scout Camp-Out at Fire Mountain

Well I got little carried away with the pix, but as you can see, we had a fun weekend! This was Jayden's first scouting camp-out and she was so excited to come along. We fished, did skits with our den, had campfires, did a Pack "Amazing Race" with a variety of events (state the oath and pledge, nail pounding, knot tying, clothes changing, ski boarding, ball toss, and licorice spitting contest), and did the cross-over ceremony.

Jake's favorite part of the whole weekend was fishing. Unfortunately they only had a 2 fish per kid per weekend limit- But then they each caught one for me, too (the lake is so well stocked that it only takes about 5 minutes to catch one- my kind of place)! Chuck Cook taught me how to clean the fish, and I must say I am finally getting the hang of this fishing thing! Jake enjoyed taking the guts out of the fish and "popping" various organs (should I be worried??) Now we have a bunch of nasty old smelly trout in the freezer. First thing when we got home I made him take a looooong bath...

I didn't sleep much the first night (4 hours?), but the next night was better. I cricked my neck the first night (sleeping) and then Jake dove on me during the Amazing Race and aggrivated it, so I felt like an old lady moving around.

It was the first time our Pack camped at a site other than Enumclaw since we joined.

Jake became a Bear at the celebration on Saturday night, and the boys from our den who camped with us were Josh and Cole.

We had gorgeous weather the whole time- just like last year. On Saturday morning Jayden and I left for her first t-ball game for several hours (and darn near ran out of gas on our way). It was glorious to get away from the camp site for a while- and to get some coffee, too!

On the way home (on Sunday) we stopped for lunch at Wendys and then I did tons of laundry and cleaning.
